Lesson 1, Topic 1
In Progress

Safety

Sports safety wear.

Equipment
• It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure that all athletes
have proper, and well maintained, safety equipment.
• Get proper measurements when fitting for safety equipment.
• Assign safety equipment that is the correct size for the athlete.
• Each year, several athletes are injured because they wore faulty
or the wrong size safety equipment.
• These injuries could have been prevented.

Training Surfaces

Poor training surfaces are major causes of a number of injuries in the field of play. Playing grounds need to be monitored and inspected to save players carries. Most sports governing boards have inspection teams, that regularly monitor and inspect fields pre, during and post seasons. Out door sports are usually the most affected due to weather changes hence good drainage systems are needed during rainy seasons and consistent water systems during summer to maintain standards hence reducing the occurrence of injuries.
