Profiling clients

Every client is totally different and distinct from the previous client you trained. Under the principles of training there are two key principles of individuality and specificity. There principles can be applied when you have an understanding of the strength and weaknesses of the client. Before you start training a client, you need to go through what is called fault finding.

Fault Finding

Every client comes with history of previous activities and records which ranges from medical, work related and general activity. Seeking for help usually means they have tried and realised that they need assistance. A record of previous activities, health related issues and anthropometric measurements is very important to give you an informed and detailed starting point. Most of the time what the client may think to be a problem may be just a symptom of the real cause which maybe identified through details collected during the profiling phase.

Health and physical activities records

Growth is a process characterized by many challenges, from birth we go through different medical checkups and immunizations. Often we get sick and majority of African population wait for critical conditions to visit the hospital, this maybe because of cultural beliefs in traditional medicine and usually a physical activity lifestyle in our daily chores. However, 21st century population have moved away from most of these chores hence the visit doctors more often since they are not that physically active. The desire of many is to get a job where they sit on the chair from 8am to 4pm with breaks only during meals. However this becomes a health hazard to many who end up becoming obese and attracting other silent killer diseases. A 21st century Recreational Instructor should be able to follow those trends to come up with an effective intervention program. An unhealthy lifestyle does not come overnight but over a period of time hence the first point of call is to look at this history.

Anthropometric measurements

As much as history is very important, the principle of individualization states that every person is different, hence the approach as well should be different .Anthropometric measurements helps us understand the current state of a client and developing a individualized and progressive intervention program.
